Paul Little

paul_littlePike fishing in the English lake district was and still is Paul Little’s great passion. Fly dressing he started early because there was need for small Stoats tail tube flies used together with artificial pike lures. The natural progress from there was changing to fly-fishing and hence to fly dressing for trout and salmon. Paul find Oliver Edwards article ”The quest for perfection” published in Trout and Salmon very inspirational.

In year 1996 at Partridge fly tying days Paul met fly dresser Marvin Nolte, who turned direction of his fly dressing and life. The world of classic salmon flies started to interest him. His first attempts in this fine art showed lack in knowledge of the materials and how they behave in hand. Books were great source for a certain point, but once again Paul had to turn to Marvin. Paul learned techniques that made huge improvements to his flies. Paul’s passion is for dressing the classic salmon flies. He enjoys most dressing the grubs, Spey flies and those flies that most people have forgotten.

In recent years he has given salmon and trout fly workshops in the US and the UK and enjoyed the experience very much. The important thing for him is mastering the basic techniques and having done so, to disseminate those skills for the benefit of other fly dressers.
