Stanislav Mankov
Here is information about Stanislav in his own words:
"My name is Stanislav Mihailov Mankov and I am a flyfisherman. I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1988. Fishing is an inseparable part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started flyfishing when I was 15 and that is the only fishing I do since then. I fish mostly salmonids and I am currently studying Zoology in Cambridge, England.
I am into fly tying as well and have been tying my own flies since the very beginning. I like to think of flies myself and to experiment with new materials and techniques. When I have time I like to tie semi-realistic flies. I take part in a few fares in England, Denmark , Holland, Ireland and of course Bulgaria. I have the desire to attend and part take in fares and shows all around the globe.
Casting with fly rod for me is also one of the things without flyfishing would not be the same and I take it very seriously. I think of it as something where you can strive for improvement all your life and I dedicate a lot towards that effort.
I have competed for the Bulgarian fishing club „Stari Vidri“ since 2005. I have been in the national team for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. I won the Republican Championship of Bulgaria for 2006, 2007 and 2008 individually and came second with my team in 2005,2006 and 2008. In 2007 we were champions.
After that I stopped competing in the national circuit and came to England to study.I have participated in two European and two World Championships – Slovenia `06 and Norway `07 and New Zealand `08 and Scotland 2009."
